What A Gem!
On the first night we had a dinner at the hotel and invited our local friends to join us. The chef Constantijn came out and talked us through the 5 course menu (which was a 6 course menu as they have a tradition to include a surprise course). That was a truly tasty journey, wonderfully presented and everything tasted so different. A surprise course was a celery sorbet a true surprise indeed, but how delicious. And, of course, matching wine (paired by Paul) just greatly complemented it all.
We also had a dinner on our last night, and it appeared that we were the only guests in the hotel. So, the chef came to meet us at the breakfast and asked us what we would like for our dinner, just like that. So, we had a bespoke menu, the restaurant just to ourselves and a bottle of beautiful sparkling wine to compliment the food. What an experience! And the food was just amazing, truly amazing! So was the service.
The breakfast was also wonderful, with a beautiful choice and delicious carrot and beetroot juices, this was a first ever in our travel experience to have veg juices for a breakfast, such a treat.
All the staff was great, very attentive, helpful and friendly. On our last morning we asked if it will be possible to have a tour to see the grounds. Scott took us everywhere and told us the history of the house too. The tour was great, so much to see.
We could write so much more, but will conclude by just saying that we certainly will be back and for longer! Thank you to all staff, Scott, Paul, Constantijn and his assistant and others (apologies we do not know all the names) for such a wonderful experience, you made us feel like VIP guests which was amazing!
