A Celebration of South African Heritage
Spier is blessed with the greatest number of beautifully preserved Cape Dutch gables of all the historic farms in the Cape. They have named their award-winning wine range after them - not only to highlight this unique architectural feature, but also their proud history of winemaking in South Africa; one that dates back to 1692.
At Hartford House we just love the wine, Spier 21 Gables Chenin Blanc. This wooded Chenin Blanc is rich and complex, and is created from vineyards that are over 40 years old. These vineyards produce grapes with thicker skins, which ultimately means you get a wine with intense flavour that also ages beautifully well. We love serving it with poached fresh hake, coconut emulsion, baby burnt onions, yoghurt and fresh coconut.
