A Small Slice Of Heaven
We visited Hartford House as a family with my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. We had a lovely and completely relaxing time. We enjoyed the rustic nature of the property which emanates peacefulness. Then combine that with thoughtful service (all the staff deserve credit for this) and excellent food and wine, and a stay at Hartford House is a small slice of heaven.
I always enjoy when Mick Goss (his wife runs the hotel) talks about the area, its history and how he is intertwined in it; as well as his continued ambition for Hartford House and Summerhill Stud. The change of chef is interesting: Jackie Cameron is a very hard act to follow. We experienced the new chef Constantijn Hahndiek. I am sure the baton will be passed successfully and he will establish his own Hartford style. His desserts are amazing!
Special thanks to GM Duncan Bruce who looked after us very well indeed, including a wonderful horse ride for Rachel on Sunday morning.
We stayed in Inkanyezi, one of the lake suites, this time and thoroughly enjoyed its space - it brought back memories of the first time we stayed in a very much smaller rondavel back in 1979! Our grandchildren were particularly impressed with the bath tub!
Room Tip: Take your pick - they all have a different character.
