The Prestigious L'Avenir Estate And The Award Winning Hartford House Celebrate A Gourmet Evening Second To None!
Visitors to the Cape Vineyards are first impressed by the natural beauty of the area with the monumental green mountains that paint the perfect backdrop to the geometric vines; bordered by ancient oaks and fruit orchards, all located a few kilometres from the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Their next impression is how this exceptional terroir can create wines of excellence.
The vineyards of South Africa, with Southern latitude of 32°, benefit from hours of sunshine tempered by the cold waters travelling up from Antarctica, creating a cool climate near the sea and ideal conditions for grape growing. The prestigious L'Avenir estate is located in Stellenbosch, a globally renowned viticultural capital and charming university town, just 15km away from the coast.
L'Avenir, meaning "The Future" in French, is not a recent invention but a testimony to the history of South Africa and the presence of the French Huguenots from the early 18th century. L'Avenir produces elegant and generous wines with classical character; including Sauvignon Blanc, Caberenet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The celebrated Pinotage, which is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, together with Chenin are the two most popular wines of the estate and have received many international awards. Distinctly South African wines with a hint of French flair.
An outstanding location marked by a moderately warm climate and cool night, ideal for growing grapes of world-class quality.
