Drakensberg Boys' Choir"
The hills are alive..."
We're fortunate at Hartford House in the many visitors that travel thousands of miles to visit us, and the tapestry of cultures they represent. People come from across the world to stay at the "jewelled buckle" of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands; some of them connoisseurs of the arts and music, others with uninitiated curiosities of what this spectacular part of the world has to offer.
However, the one thing they all have in common, once they've made their first pilgrimage to the Drakensberg Boys' Choir (an enchanting 45 minute drive into the Champagne Valley), is that this is an irresistible option for all comers. Even the Viennese, who have a proprietary interest in protecting the status of the Vienna Boys' Choir, concede that the diversity and the talent on display, at times, eclipses the lofty standards set by their own, and for those who are with us on a Wednesday during school term time, this is a must. The concerts kick off at 15:30 sharp.

Music in the Mountains
Music in the Mountains takes place on the campus of the Drakensberg Boys Choir School on the last weekend of April every year. The festival has grown from strength to strength over the past 19 years and attracts thousands of people each year. The main attraction of the festival every year is the Drakensberg Boys' Choir - the festival caters for all tastes and showcases talents from around South Africa, including comedy shows, children's shows and many more.
Music in the Mountains becomes home to many market traders for the weekend, who come and exhibit a range of magnificent products - the market area is set up strategically so as not to cause any interuptions to the world class entertainment taking place inside the Ken Mackenzie Audtiorium.
Christmas in the Berg
Christmas in the Berg takes place annually on the campus of the Drakensberg Boys' Choir School on the first weekend of December. Christmas is the theme of the weekend and this is kept closely in mind when planning for the festival. You can look forward to the traditional Noël Concert by the Drakensberg Boys' Choir, which is an array of Christmas music - various shows are performed by guest artists from around South Africa but the Drakensebrg Boys' Choir remains the main attraction for the weekend. You can also look forward to the Drakensberg Boys' Choir internal music competition, where the boys put their solo voices to the test.
Christmas in the Berg will also serve as a base for Christmas shopping, where a great variety of market traders exhibit their wonderful products. The market area is strategically set-up in order to avoid any interruptions to the world-class entertainment taking place inside the Ken Mackenzie Auditorium.
