Makes : 900ml
- 250ml White Sugar
- 250ml Water
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 12 Whole Cloves
- 750ml Red Wine
- In a saucepan, stir the sugar, water and cinnamon sticks until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, turn down the heat and allow to simmer.
- Cut the oranges in half, squeeze the juice into the simmering liquid, then push the cloves into the outside of the orange peel and place in the liquid.
- Continue simmering for 30 minutes. Until the liquid is thick and syrupy.
- Add the wine, and heat until steaming hot, but not boiling. Strain the liquid and serve.
