“The background setting for this working horse breeding establishment is a flat green landscape well away from noise and light pollution of the modern world. The owners have very tastefully blended old and new to make your accommodation, restaurant and rest areas feel like very special places indeed.
The food is gourmet, well presented and very tasteful. I did not feel there was any sign of budgets in their choices but rather a desire to excite your pallet with excellent local produce. I particularly appreciated the ability to sample multiple options at my first breakfast morning as I was keen and hungry enough to explore them. Some options such as the Zulu Breakfast actually makes you wonder why no one else had thought of that before? Hartford House is leading not following. Very well done indeed.
Our suite was number 18, the only room in the main house. It really is a magical place to unwind, read a book and forget about the world beyond the horizon. The bathroom on its own invites you to take a luxury bath or shower complimented by top quality toiletries. A small but important point was the wood burning in the fireplace without any smoke finding its way into the room, or even any smell lingering in the room in the day time. Wow. The pleasures of a fireplace without the usual negative side affects. If you’re unsure about lighting the fire, the staff will gladly do it for you.
Another extremely important aspect is that Hartford House is very well, hands on managed at all times with fully focused and alert staff always wanting to go that extra mile to assist you, as well as being very keen to continue developing the hotel into the best. And frankly, if it is not already “the best” in your mind, it will be once their new spa opens, proving to the other local, long established stale options in the area ,that the past 2 years can present positive opportunities, rather than an excuse to deliver sub standard services.
Thank you to everyone at Hartford House. We can’t wait to be back.“
