We stayed at Hartford House in the KZN Midlands for 2 nights with our 18 month old. We had a lovely time. The accommodation was fantastic and very comfortable. Our daughter enjoyed the grass area outside. The hotel is very pretty and relaxing with great gardens.
Having stayed at this magnificent Hartford House hotel on many occasions dating back to the late 90s, I have come to love their hospitality. The last visit was for a simple lunch and Chef Constantijn Hahndiek is a genius.
Hartford House never disappoints. The House and tea rooms are heavenly, the gardens and surrounds are out of this world, the staff are professional and friendly, the accommodation is simply stunning, and the food is just exceptional.

What a gem this place is. Duncan and his team have created a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere were nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious showcasing local produce as it does and the wine pairing bring everything to life.
On the 18th Nov 2017 we were privileged to have our wedding at Hartford House. It was the most Magical day of our lives! Duncan Bruce leads the team at Hartford House and he made sure our wedding weekend was one to be remembered.

Situated on the Summerhill Stud farm in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Hartford House is one of the country’s top fine dining restaurants. Benefiting from an extensive list of small local suppliers for dairy, beef, herbs and vegetables, chef Constantijn Hahndiek has created a five-course dinner menu that is an ode to the region.
Hartford House is definitely one not to be missed if you are doing the Midlands Meander. Gracious hospitality, beautiful setting and sublime food and wine.
