Introducing Executive Chef Keegan Lock

“Hartford House is proud to announce the appointment of Keegan Lock as our new Executive Chef.”

Keegan Lock has had a passion for food from a very young age and decided to follow this path as a career. After completing his studies of the culinary arts at the age of 20, he started his career in the highly competitive and demanding Cape Town region and worked for almost a decade in some of the country’s most renowned fine dining establishments; refining his craft and expanding his influence of flavours and the influence of different food cultures.

Following his time in the Cape, Keegan moved to the Central Kruger, working for one of South Africa’s most prestigious 5 Star game lodges. He describes his time there as inspiring and challenging as his passion for fresh and local was put to the test in such a remote location. After completing 3 years of service in the wilderness, Keegan has now decided to move to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands to join us at Hartford, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, a deep passion for food and leadership to our culinary team.

Keegan, traditionally trained in the French style of cuisine, has a marked passion for the style and flavour profile but has a strong influence of the orient in the food he produces. Keegan is always looking to highlight the best of what is local, fresh and sustainable, and is now in arguably one of the best environments in the country to allow his talent to shine.
